Dragon Tiger strips card games down to one question: which of two cards is higher? It is often described as a simplified version of baccarat, and a round can finish in the time it takes to read this sentence.
How Dragon Tiger works
Two positions sit on the table, Dragon and Tiger. The dealer places one card face up on each.
The side with the higher card wins. There is no drawing, no hand total and no decision after your bet is placed.
Card ranking
In the standard game, the ace counts lowest, followed by 2 through 10, then jack, queen and king at the top. Suits do not usually matter for the main bets.
Steps in a single round
- A short betting timer opens.
- You place chips on Dragon, Tiger or Tie.
- One card goes to each side.
- The higher card wins, and the balance updates automatically.
Understanding the Tie bet
The Tie bet wins only when both cards share the same rank, such as two 9s. That result is uncommon, so the payout is much larger than for Dragon or Tiger.
Ties also affect the main bets. In many versions, a Dragon or Tiger bet returns only half the stake on a tie. Some tables add a Suited Tie side bet as well. Rules and payouts vary by version, so read the table's help screen.
Speed and spending
Because each result arrives almost instantly, Dragon Tiger can burn through a balance faster than slower games. Decide a stake that is a small slice of your session money, and pause for a few minutes after every twenty rounds to check where you stand.
